Dr. Cyrille Ngoufack Tagousop | Organic Chemistry | Young Researcher Award

University of Ngaoundere | Cameroon

Dr. Cyrille Ngoufack Tagousop is a Senior Lecturer and natural product chemist whose research focuses on the chemical investigation of Cameroonian medicinal plants for bioactive secondary metabolites. His work integrates advanced spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques, including NMR and ESIMS, through collaborations with international facilities such as the PlAneT CPER project and CREMAN at the University of Liège. He has isolated and characterized more than fifty novel or rare secondary metabolites, many of which exhibit exceptional antimicrobial activity, surpassing commercially available antibiotics. These compounds represent valuable lead structures for the development of new therapeutic agents capable of addressing the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance. With 12 peer-reviewed publications, he contributes significantly to natural product drug discovery and actively supports scientific advancement as a reviewer for leading journals in the field.
