Professor Tsotinis is a distinguished researcher in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry with a strong focus on the development of novel synthetic methodologies and bioactive molecular frameworks. His research is dedicated to the design, synthesis, and optimization of organic compounds with diverse pharmacological activities, including antineoplastic, antiviral, antibacterial, antitubercular, trypanocidal, and central nervous system (CNS) applications. A significant component of his work involves the structural modification of bioactive natural products, such as melatonin and its derivatives, to enhance therapeutic efficacy and selectivity. Drawing on experience from both academic and industrial research environments, his studies effectively bridge fundamental organic synthesis and applied pharmaceutical chemistry. Professor Tsotinis has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed scientific publications and is the inventor or co-inventor of numerous European and U.S. patents, highlighting the translational impact of his research. He has led and co-led a large number of competitive research programs and has extensively supervised doctoral, postgraduate, and professional pharmacy research projects, contributing significantly to advanced training and innovation in chemical and pharmaceutical sciences.
